Covid Update

I am praising the Lord for bringing Vickie and I through Covid-19. Back in February of 2020, we had both been hit by some type of flu/pneumonia that had convinced me that I had experienced Covid-19. I had not. By the first of September, I was again experiencing what felt like the flu. After a few days, Vickie requested that I take a home testing for Covid by phone It showed a positive result. That was Thursday evening. On Friday morning I drove to Hillcrest Hospital and had a test there for Covid-19. You drove up to the tent they had placed, parked and waited for someone to come to you. That test showed positive.

The doctor then prescribed the monoclonal antibody therapy. If I had availed myself of that treatment, things may not have been so bad; however, I did not. A family doctor immediately ordered a Z-Pak to help keep things from turning into pneumonia. Between the various medicines and God’s mercy, we both have survived this ordeal. Vickie did have to spend four days in the hospital due to a drop in her oxygen level. We God the praise for his mercy and grace!

While battling Covid-19, we have learned of several who, though much younger than we are, have succumbed to this illness. It is a walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death. King David had visited that valley many times in his life, from facing the lion and the bear while keeping his father’s sheep as a youth (1 Samuel 17:34-36), to facing Saul’s wrath (1 Samuel 19:10) and his men’s despondency (1 Samuel 30:6).

God’s promise makes the difference. He will never leave, nor forsake, the believer in Christ (Hebrews 13:5). Nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35-39). We are always confident, knowing that, while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord; and, we are confident, Paul says, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labor, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him (2 Corinthians 5:6-9).

God still has a purpose for us, a work to which we can place our hands: it is the gospel plow. We can still point souls to Christ, who is the only means of salvation. No man can come unto the Father, but by him (John 14:6). There is none other name, under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). He came unto his own (Israel, for he is the Son of David), and his own received him not (they demanded his crucifixion). But as many as received him (as the Christ, the Son of the living God), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:11-12).

Thank you for your prayers!
